Bournmoor Primary School get the International AwardOn Wednesday 8th October 2008 Mrs Carlton who is the Year 5/6 Teacher and the International and Modern Foreign Languages co-ordinator, went to a high profile ceremony in London to collect the prestigious International School Award. It was presented by broadcaster and journalist George Alagiah. This celebration of the best in international activity was attended by representatives from schools across the UK. Bournmoor Primary School received their award for their ‘outstanding’ work in bringing the wider world into the classroom through their partnership with Ecole Alphonse Daudet in France and Ecole Charles Ilet in Martinique.
Read more...Harvest AssemblyChildren at Bournmoor Primary School held a Harvest Assembly for parents. The following day the Home School Association made soup and bread with the children to serve to the older members of the community at a special lunchtime assembly. The children prepared and presented their own work about where their food is harvested around the world, and also the importance of Fairtrade produce. After the assembly the school council took the produce, which the children had been collecting during the week, to the Shelter for the Homeless in Plawsworth, Chester-le-Street who were very grateful for the kind gesture.
Read more...Wear it Pink Day 24th October 2008Pupils and Staff at Bournmoor Primary School dressed all in pink to raise money for Breast Cancer Campaign. They collected a total of £147.55. The children and staff all entered into the spirit of the day, with some amazing outfits. Staff member Carolyn Bewick made and donated pink ribbons to give to children for their contributions. Wear it Pink DayPupils and Staff were in the pink when they raised money for the Breast Cancer Campaign. They Raised a fabulous £280.00 for this worthwhile cause on Friday 19th October. The children all entered into the spirit of the day wih some amazing outfits and almost eveyone was wearing pink ribbons by the end of the week.
