Autumn term Parents’ Evenings are on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th November. A letter will be coming out this week so you can arrange an appointment to see your child’s class teacher.
To help us keep in touch with parents/carers and share our news we have joined twitter. Our aim is to share photographs to show some of the events and activities that we take part in, both in and out of school. Mr Seaton has set this up so we can upload our news. If you would like to view our twitter page then please search bournmoorps and follow us for regular tweets and updates.
Just a reminder that our school photographer will be in on Monday 9th October. Family photos will be taken from 8.30am in the main hall. This tends to be popular so your patience with this is always appreciated. Class, team and individual photos will be taken in school across the morning. Nursery children will also have their photos taken and children who attend the afternoon sessions are invited to join us from 9am. Please note that Mr Football’s 8am club will not be on that morning and Year 3 swimming is cancelled to allow everyone to get their photographs taken.
Mrs Kershaw is presenting a SAT evening for parents/carers of our Year 6 children on Monday 6th November from 3.20pm. We hope you are able to come along and find out about the KS2 national tests, which begin on Monday 14th May 2018, and ideas to help at home.
We are pleased to announce that school councillors have been voted for and will be working with Miss Watson this year. Previous school councillors have had many great ideas on how to improve our school so we can’t wait to see what they achieve across this academic year. We are also going to organise play leaders over the next couple of weeks. Junior age children will get the chance to apply for the post which involves organising games and activities for younger children at lunchtime.
Our football team have had a great start to the season. On 4th October 2017 we hosted a tournament at our school and played against teams from Birtley and Sunderland. The squad were a credit to our school and their team spirit prevailed with more experienced players encouraging our newest members. Many thanks to the parents/carers who offer such amazing support at all our matches.
Just a reminder to parents/carers of children in Mrs Parks’ Year 2 class, you are invited along to their class assembly on Wednesday 18th October at 9.00am. We look forward to seeing you then.
Well done to our netball team who have made a flying start to the season this September. They played at Park View, Chester-le-Street recently and won the first match with a very convincing score. Mr Seaton said the whole team played so well it was difficult choosing his ‘most valuable player’!
Children in upper juniors have started this academic year with fantastic STEM opportunities. Firstly in school Year 4/5 have been working with Mr Nelson from Park View Academy to complete robotics project work in teams. Year 6 children have also just attended the ‘Bring it On’ when they visited the Stadium of Light. This event aims to inspire and encourage children to explore a career in engineering. The Year 6 pupils who attended had a wide range of experiences across the day. Photos from this can be viewed on our twitter page.
The fire brigade will be in school on Tuesday 17th October to talk to children about bonfire night safety. Their aim is to work with local schools to spread a message about safety to ensure all children understand the Firework Code.
