Pupils – What you need to know

We look forward to welcoming back all the children to Bournmoor Primary School in September.  When we opened for certain groups of children in March, the staff worked very hard to get school ready for them to come in.  We wanted to be sure that we followed the government guidelines and we were able to work with pupils and parents to keep our school community safe.  We have continued to work hard ready for September and would like to remind you about the following:

When you arrive at school you will come in through the side gate near the infant porch.  You will notice yellow lines painted on the ground.  This helps keep everyone a safe distance from each other.  There will be one way in school through this gate and one way out using the top gate.  This means everyone walks in one direction and doesn’t get too close to anyone else.  It is important we all stay apart and follow social distancing guidelines.

You will need to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds or long enough to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ twice.  You will need to do this regularly during the day and if you sneeze, cough or blow your nose.  The staff may ask you to wash your hands especially after you have been outside.

When you enter the classroom you will notice that the desks may be facing the front or are more spaced out and this is because we have to keep a safe distance from other people.  You can still talk to your friends, and the adults in your room, but you need to do this from a safe distance.

When it comes to lunch you will eat lunch in your classroom.  If the weather is warm you might eat outside but it is important you follow social distance guidelines when talking to your friends.  If you have a packed lunch from home then the teacher will tell you where to put it until lunchtime.  Remember to keep your water bottle next to you.

You will be spending time outside for outdoor learning and for break time.  The staff will explain the areas you can play in.  You can play with your friends but just remember to keep apart.

At the end of the day your parent will be waiting for you outside on a red spot that has been marked on the ground.  These markings have been put out to make sure your parent is safe and can be socially distant from other people.

And remember that if you feel unwell you must tell an adult straight away so we can look after you.
