Adverse Weather Conditions

If our school has to close because of adverse weather conditions, any announcements will be made by text, via the school website www.bournmoor.durham.sch.uk, SUN FM radio, Metro Radio, Capital Radio and Radio Newcastle. Please log onto our website or listen out for announcements on these radio stations to find out if the school is closed. Please note that our texting service is internet based and is therefore dependant on the internet working efficiently. Please do not phone the office but use the above methods to get up to date information.

We will try to keep the school open, but if staff cannot get in and there are not enough teachers in school by 8.45am, we may have to close for safety reasons. Please stay with your child until you are sure that the school is open and also make sure your mobile phone is switched on and up to date contact numbers are held at the school office.

In the event of snow:

In order for the children to play outside, they should wear wellingtons or boots to school and bring a pair of indoor shoes and a pair of socks to change into. They will then be able to enjoy the pleasure of playing in the snow at break-times. If anyone has any spares to donate to the school please bring them to the office.

We are in need of:

  • boy and girl trousers of all age groups
  • socks – all sizes, boys and girls
  • tights

All donations are appreciated.
